Final evaluation
Over the last years, The Luxembourg Cooperation has chosen to support the vocational training sector in Western Africa, and especially, in Niger. This sector, neglected for a long time, is nevertheless an essential source of employment in a country where the youngest represent tha vast majority of the population.
The Luxembourg cooperation throughout program NIG/017 "Support to the National Programme for Vocational Training" has already drawed the attention of another donor since European Union has chosen to delegate part of its funding (3,500,000 EUR over three years) to LuxDev in order to support some of its activities.
Supported activities aim at the improvement of quality of trainings in regard with socio-economic realities of the country, the collaboration with professionnal organisations through the creation of a special Fund (FAFPCA), the improvement of the cover of the sector within urban and rural areas and the study of the real needs of the labour market.
